North Beach
North Beach, or sometimes called Corpus Christi Beach, is a perfect location for fun in the sun plus walking distance from plenty of restaurants, attractions, and shops. North Beach is just across the Harbor Bridge from Corpus Christi with a beautiful view of downtown Corpus Christi.
The beach at North Beach features about a mile of sand for beach combing, playing and swimming. Driving is prohibited on the beach but a concrete beach trail runs along the beach and is ideal for cycling, skating and walking. Jetty fishing is also available from its north and south end jetties. North Beach's family friendly renovations are a must see, they include a new playground and bathroom facilities. And don't forget the great fishing. McGee Beach
McGee Beach can be found in downtown Corpus Christi along with the historic seawall. McGee Beach is a dream to visitors since it is seaweed-free with manicured sand and the warm and protected calm waters of Corpus Christi Bay. Easily accessible by all and family friendly. You can enjoy water sports and activities from bay fishing off the jetties to sand volleyball, sunbathing or just walking along the beach. The calm protected waters of McGee Beach make it the perfect place to take the family.
McGee Beach and neighboring T-Heads has a number of vendors who rent beach essentials including umbrellas, chairs, and cabanas. Additional rentals include jet skis, pedal boats, scooters and surrey bicycles.
McGee Beach is located on Shoreline Blvd in downtown Corpus Christi. Parking is free along the Seawall or at the parking lots directly across the beach. Restroom facilities can be found nearby. With all these amenities McGee Beach is a perfect spot to spend the day with the whole family.
Padre Island Beaches
So many beach and so little time! Padre Island is just minutes from downtown Corpus Christ with an array of beach options.
Whitecap Beach, named after the white sands and a clean and quite beach that has the Padre Island Seawall running along side of it. A little further north is Michael J. Ellis Beach with free parking, clean facilities, showers, and dressing rooms to make your beach day easy and fun. Ellis beach has packed sand and lifeguards stationed along the way, it is a great place to bike, jog, walk, surf, and get wet. This beach is also ADA accessible and free to the public.
A little further north and within the boundaries of Whitecap Beach you’ll also find South Packery Channel Beach, which serves as the dividing line between Mustang and Padre Islands. This beautiful sandy beach is perfect for families. It is the perfect spot for jetty fishing, surfing, windsurfing, and kiteboarding. South Packery Channel Beach also offers one of the top fishing spots in the region, so bring your fishing poles.
Padre Balli Beach is the locals’ most beloved 400-acre stretch of coast, known for surfing, shore fishing, and just handing out with friends. It includes miles and miles of sandy beaches and beautiful rolling waves. Padre Balli Park even offers camping experiences with lots of paved campsites suitable for RVs, hardtop areas for tents with electrical and water hookups, ADA-accessible amenities, a bathhouse, and more.
North Packery Beach, locally referred to as J.P. Luby, is a watersports enthusiast dream come true. It is the perfect spot to surf jet-ski, kiteboard, wakeboard and so much more. This beach stays packed with visitors, locals, and families throughout the year.
Padre Island National Seashore
Padre Island National Seashore separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Laguna Madre, and protects the coastline, dunes, prairies, and flats. Padre Island National Seashore, encompassing 130,434 acres, is the longest remaining undeveloped stretch of barrier island in the world, and offers a wide variety of flora, fauna, and recreation. Four-wheeling, camping, fishing, and a famous spot for wind-surfing. It is a national park and a haven for all sorts of family-friendly activities, it’s an untouched paradise and a federally-protected wildlife area.
